Some liken the NFL draft to Christmas morning for fans. This helps generate excitement and objectify human beings. Two birds, one stone, if you ask me.

Whereas before the draft, many local defensive playmakers were mocked to your Seattle Seahawks, after the draft, they all ended up un-local. Kevin King is a Packer, never to be spoken again except when Doug Baldwin roasts him like a marshmallow Week 1 in Green Bay. Budda Baker committed the Cardinal sin of letting Arizona draft him. Adoree Jackson went to the Titans, your new AFC crush.

Future All-Pro Sidney Jones was thought to perhaps drop to the Seahawks, because of his Achilles injury, but now he will suit up for the Eagles, who took him 43rd overall.

But there is scant reason to be sad. One or more of Seattle’s draftees will turn into a star. It happens every year. Yes, even in 2013. [/checks] Okay, fine maybe not in 2013 unless you count Spencer Ware. So which new Seahawk has you pumped and jacked (copyright Pete Carroll)?

As a bonus, you can always explain why, too. I’m going with Griffin because he represents the highest draft choice Pete and John have ever spent on a corner. We’re likely to see him immediately compete in camp; we’re likely to see him take extensive snaps in the preseason; he’s likely to make an early impact on special teams. Maybe more. Maybe sooner than expected.

Tomorrow: the same question, but for offense.
